First Regional Conference of Security Ministers
On February 2, 2023 the First Regional Conference of Security Ministers of the governments of Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and Dominican Republic was held in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Ministers and Secretaries recognized the growing problem of transnational organized crime and how it has and continues to impact regional security particularly in areas related to human trafficking and smuggling, trafficking of illegal firearms, drug trafficking, gangs, cyber threats and other related crimes.

Ministers and Secretaries representing the countries agreed to establish communication channels and execute joint actions to strengthen the fight against organized crime.

Representing Belize at today’s session were Hon. Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries accompanied by Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Anthony Rosado.
